TheOne - 01-10-08 17:21 Well, first I would advice you to check your status with the ECFMG by calling them. If you have a valid ECFMG certificate then your chances are ok. It's been 20 years since you graduate, that's a long time ago, but being able to finish residency in your home country is a plus. It's impossible to tell anyone what his/her chances are, as it depends on many aspects including USMLE scores, US clinical experience, research and publication activities, etc.
Make that phone call to the ECFMG, see if you're good to go. Then try to get some US clinical experience through searching for hospitals that offer observerships/externships and join them. You can also use sites like Match A Resident "http://www.matcharesident.com" to get a customized list that may help you through searching for a residency.
For fellowship opportunities, you will need to contact the hospitals that offer the specialty that you're looking for "Neonatology", you can do that through this website:

Good luck.

radhamesramos - 01-11-08 09:36 Also, you can just do a Fellowship in any pediatrics field, but won't be able to practice in the U.S. That is also feasible, just try to get what are the Fellowship prgrams for Foreign specialists and good luck

Re: pediatric residency
taghrid - 01-31-08 11:42 You need 6 month to prepare for mrcpch part 1, and if you have experience in pediatrics you can finish part 2 in another 6 month.
