conym5 - 07-23-09 08:04 A normal 2-week-old infant has a basal caloric expenditure
of about 65 cal/(kg.d). Adding calories for activity and growth
brings the caloric requirement to about 110 cal/kg. A 3.5-kg infant, therefore,
requires about 385 cal in the diet per day.
