Personal Statement Tips

"i sit here staring at my countless drafts of my personal statement.... waiting for inspiration to hit me... or maybe run me over. my writing ability has left me years ago... around the time i entered medical school, actually. it's gone downhill since then.. any creative writing undertaken after that time has been strained... like it is now.

it helps to have friends to go through your personal statement. also helps to have a borther who's gone through it before (but i'd rather that he not read my personal statement).

so... i'm still sitting here staring. mainly because i really don't know what else i can write about or how to even add any more things to it. and i've sworn i won't go down to shameless plugging of how i am such a fabulous doctor. haha.

but i guess for the sake of others, i'll share some of the wisdom that had been passed to me:

1. don't restate your CV - i know it's tempting to just re-emphasize all that, but ..."

kinda long post. read the rest at www.studywhore.blogspot.com

My brother got his PS edited by ElectronicResidency.com..they did a great job! The price was reasonable too.

The only danger in getting yur PS written by someone else is due to the fact that the person who has written a PS for u may also have written the same PS for other residency applicants. If that happens then all those for whom that PS was written may land into some trouble.

Best Wishes!

Adonis,

Makes an excellent point, please look at the seal on our website, PARWCC.

IMGPreps team is composed of a writing department, which has been an active portion of IMGPrep for over
five years. The writing team works 1:1 with our applicants to develop their existing statement. Please also read below which is clearly stated on our website.

"Please note that we recommend that your statement be about one page long on the ERAS system, or about 750- 850 words long. (You can check the word count in Microsoft Word by selecting Tools and word count.) At IMGPrep, we do not edit statement that fall short of the minimum length of 650 words. We want to help you edit and polish your statement, but we cannot write it for you."

Personal Statements for applicants are a serious portion of their application as are the CAF , thank you letters etc. Our writing team also contributes to applicants by writing articles and placing them on our blog and facebook ,http://www.facebook.com/notifications#!/groups/162766047114148/

On our FB page you will see a list of all our current discussions and articles relative to Personal Statements as well.

Any specific questions regarding IMGPreps personal statement service can be directed to Mrs. Miriam Milstein
mmilstein@imgprep.com
