InSitu - 01-07-08 04:12 If you don't match I think you should prepare for the Scramble and Post Scramble. If none works then prepare for next year match (2009 match) with a good personal statement and add USCE to your file. Become a US citizen if possible :)

Find a good supporting US citizen wife? hmm

Re: plan B
radhamesramos - 01-07-08 09:58 First of all, what specialty(ies) are you applying to? In Internal Medicine you are the perfect candidate for a strong community program. In surgery you can have a couple of preliminaries, in Psy you are a very strong candidate.
The second thing is: where did you apply ? If you try very high ranked, reputed programs, forget it without clinical Experience (american I mean) or publications.
But a lot of good community programs could rank you high (depends on how interviews went).
Also, a greencard is a plus, so an american wife is not a bad idea
Good Luck

What is a Post-Scramble?

Re: plan B
InSitu - 01-08-08 16:18 post-scramble is the period after the scramble. There are scattered openings in the post scramble specially in June just before most residency start.

No... Pls read the quote. Insitu says "...Scramble and Post-Scramble..."!
Is there something AFTER scramble?

Re: plan B
radhamesramos - 01-29-08 09:24 there is a dead period after scramble. where some openings can be found...that is between the end of the scramble (I think scramble lasts officially 5 days) and the beginning of residencies. Find-a-resident is known to offer that service, and some people might backup at the last moment...but imagine that this even more difficult than scramble, because there are less positions available.

Re: plan B
InSitu - 02-04-08 09:00 Thats true. Another peak for openings is in June when many IMGs announced thier inability to show up due to immigration problems. Not many though.

A good number of IMGs are US citizens carribean grads. These have a much better chance for the scramble.

Re: plan B
radhamesramos - 02-04-08 10:39 yep...you are right. Those are the number one candidates for those programs, since no visa issues.
