Please guys I need some advice
Step 1 89/216
Step 2 CK 99/263
Step 2 CS passed
ECFMG certified.
Step 3 99/245
All exams cleared in first attempt.
Graduated in 2007.
Some clinical experience(observership)
1.What are my chances in general surgery?
2. Is a good idea to apply to both tracks(preliminary and categorical) in the same program?
3. If I get an interview, will they tell for which(cat or prelim)?
I'd really appreciate any input.

Yur credentials r just fine.
U have a fine chances, but, off course,u know none can predict anyone's chances as it depends on a various other factors also.
It is not a good idea to apply to preliminary and categorical positions at the same program, because one applies to preliminary positions in order to later go for a different specialty or they may think that u r using it as a back-up.
They won't ask u about that if u donot apply to both tracks.
Apply only to a categorical track at a single program.
Good Luck!

bingousmle - 09-19-10 11:51 i think your chances for surgery are bright. because your score on step2 and 3 is awesome and step one score is also decent.. how many programs have you applied to?
