Serum creatinine should be tested if the surgery is major, hypotension is expected,
nephrotoxic drugs will be used or the patient is above 50. the selective use of laboratory tests is a more prudent approach

renal function tests are among the most important tests in the pre-op evaluation of an elderly patient...both for fitness and for administration of drugs..

serum creatinine should be essentially tested to give the fitness of an elderly patient for any major surgery..the values of which are the decision maker for surgeries
