i guess it's post partum hemorrhage is the commonest cause of maternal mortality worldwide.. especially in the under developed country..

The major causes of maternal death are bacterial infection, variants of gestational hypertension including pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome, obstetrical hemorrhage, ectopic pregnancy, puerperal sepsis (childbed fever), amniotic fluid embolism, uterine rupture and complications of unsafe or unsanitary abortions.
