R USMLE Step-1 & Step-CK To Be COMBINED?
ask_question - 03-20-10 18:42
I have heared that step-1 and 2CK will be combined next year or in 2012, is that true?
They say that the USMLE step-1 and 2ck will be pass/fail exams only and combined into one giant exam. Did you guys hear about this? If yes , can u post some details?
Thanks as always!

Here is the new proposed sequence of exams :
New USMLE Structure:
Year1
Year2
Year3 :Gateway 1,Licensure for the Unsupervised Practice of Medicine
Year4
PGY1:Gateway 2,Licensure for the unsupervised practice of Medicine
I think it will take effect by 2014.
The latest news on this process is that in December 2009 the Committee to Evaluate the USMLE Program (CEUP) presented the Information at AAMC annual meeting, including assessment of science and new item formats.
Here is the link on the updates on this process:

Ye, there is also a suggestion to make it a Pass/Fail exam, but PD's ,in general r against incorporating this suggestion.
Good Luck!
