Most Radiology residency programs require you to do 1 year of GME (med or surg). pls forgive my ignorance, but i have some very basic doubts.. Do u have to apply separately for this 1yr GME or do u get it in the same institute as a part of radiology residency if at all u match?

TheOne - 05-29-08 17:58 Seperatley, this is called the Preliminary "Prelim" year where you rotate as a PGY-1 resident in either IM or GS for a year then advance to your Rad residency (PGY-2). It's more painful cause you will need to Match in 2 Programs, 1 is your Prelim "IM or GS" and the other is your Advanced one "Rad". GL.
