Cigarette smoking and obesity are the strongest known risk factors. Hypertension and a family history of the disease are also risk factors.Occupational exposure to cadmium is a risk factor.

drspleen - 03-21-11 18:39 All of the above are associated with a higher incidence of renal cell CA, except patients with diabetes. Acquired cystic disease in patients on chronic dialysis therapy may represent precursor lesions to renal cell carcinoma.
