Regarding J1 Visa
madrad - 05-28-08 16:06
As I understand, J1 Visa requires one to return to the home country for 2 years after completion of the fellowship/residency, unless one gets a J1 waiver job or gets H1 visa sponsored. is that correct?
Now what happens if my J1 visa has expired but my spouse has current J1 or some other visa? do i still have to return to home country or can i stay as a dependent and continue looking for a job?

If you wife has a J1, you'll be under J2 status, that doesn't give you the chance to work in medicine, you can work in anything else, but not as a specialist. So, you need you get a waiver
