Regarding Payment Methods

hi guys i need to know is there any way i can get a credit card , i mean i used credit card for payment for step1 but it was borrowed from someone , now that person is gone and i dont have any credit card available , and i asked alot of ppl but they dont have that much transaction limits , is there any other way i can get credit card , banks are not providing new cards either and my father didnt used any credit cards . is there any bank that gives these cards on basis of account balance , any info about paki banks would be welcome thnx

U do not necessarily have to pay thro' a credit card as u can send an advance payment to the ECFMG thro' a Bank Draft ,Check or Money Order with the Form 900.Here is the info from the ECFMG:
"If you are unable to pay by one of these two methods viz. Credit Card or Eletronic Check and you have a USMLE/ECFMG Identification Number, you can pay in advance by sending a payment to ECFMG using Form 900. Once you have verified that the payment has been received and credited to your ECFMG financial account, you can begin the IWA application. You can verify the status of your ECFMG financial account using ECFMG's On-line Applicant Status and Information System (OASIS)."

Re: Regarding Payment Methods ysemak - 01-06-10 05:27 Once you are in US, you can open a bank account and make your payments using a debit-card. It is some kind of problem to get credit without any credit history.

Open a bank account in country you live and get a debit-card from your bank

But, I donot think a debit from another country like India,etc works in the US for making online payments.

Why donot u pay yur Step-2CK fees the same way I mentioned above?

Re: Regarding Payment Methods zoah2005 - 01-07-10 07:25 because it says that payments must be made thru a US bank , and i dont have an account in us bank , thats why i have problems , i opened an account in citi bank but its branch in my city was closed recently .

I donot think u need to have yur own account in a US bank.
Look,if a person has an account in a US bank then why won't he/she possess a credit card?
It is not so.
Go to a wellknown bank there and talk to them.

It says:
"My check, bank draft, or money order made payable to ECFMG is enclosed.
Payment must be made in U.S. funds through a U.S. bank. Include your USMLE/ECFMG Identifi cation Number on your check."
So, u have to only make a check , bank draft, or money order payable to ECFMG.The payment will be automatically made thro' a US Bank.
It no where says that u need to have yur own US Bank Account.
