residency

I am worried about getting a residency spot. I applied to IM and FM with no interviews this year. I went to st. George's medical school in the caribbean and I am us citizen. I am losing faith. I have multiple failures on usmle exams with 77/188(part 1) on 2 attempt and 81/199(part 2) on the 3rd attempt. Can I realistically expect anything in the scramble??

I believe this year is so tough, so you need to hang in there & try this year's scramble and hope for the best, who knows.. you may get in!!!

If you went to St. George medical school, why you din't get a rotation in the U.S. while a student? I've met a lot who did this. Why don't you try having an Observership this year, so your application will be stronger next one? I've met several residents and attendings in _miami who sent to your same medical school. There is a Fellow in Trauma in Jackson Memorial's Ryder center who went to St. George's University, why don't you apply for an observership there (if you are interested in surgery) and talk to him while there or see if he can hook you on one of their Research projects.

Hope this helps

Thanks man, but i did have 2 years of clinical rotations in the states. I could look into that observership thing but surgery isnt my thing. Im pretty much content on IM or FM.
