hi i have a serious problem , i gave visa interview recently and my application is approved , now it may take 2 wks to 2 months or even more for my passport to come back , in this time should i apply for the match ? , i m interested in Internal medicine , i have taken the token but dont know if i should send applications ? i havent taken CS yet and i dont have any US experience ? what do u guys suggest , my documents are ready and i can send them tommorow but i m delaying them until now to se if my passport comes back. hoping to get some good honest advise here

When have u scheduled yur exam?By when will u have yur results?
I remember yur scores r 95 and 89 and u r gonna apply to IM.If yur results r gone come before November then I wud advise u to still apply but at selected programs.The later yur results r declared,the more difficult is it to get interviews because of the intense competion.
Also it is better to pass the Step-2CS exam first rather than messing up all the things.

zoah2005 - 09-05-10 13:45 my exam was on 21 sep but i had to reschedule it to jan because i m still in pakistan and it was impossible for me to take it on 21 sep , i m prep for it and i will try to give it asap when i will go there my be late oct or early november not before that , what do u mean by selected programs? can u please elaborate.

When shall yur results be out?
By 'selected programs' I mean the programs which offer interviews late in the application cycle as well.I also mean that u shud not work at a lot of programs until u r sure that u have passed the Step-2CS exam.
Also try to get a Step-2CS exam date now.

That is late ,but u donot have any other option.So go for it and apply wisely.

Already have spent a lot of money on applications and did not get anything in IM because it is getting more competitive day by day.My one-time Step-2CS problem really hurt me a lot.

Yes, multiple attempts on Step-2CS exam do hurt one's application a lot.

I have DNB under consideration.I also did take state PG exam and qualified that but did not get my speciaty of choice'Medicine' so did not opt for anyother specialty as well.May have to take it again.
