which of the following has the highest rate of acquiring the infection?
1-blood transfusion
2-needle stick.
3-perinatal.

I'm sorry to inform you the blood transfusion has the lowest risk among these 3 ways!
The highest is the perinatal infection 13-40% then the needle stick I think 3% then the blood transfuion 1:10 000

may i know the source of information ?
this is what i found in harrisons ?
risk of transmission by blood products - 90-100%
perinatal transmission - 20-30%
needle stick prick - 0.3 %

hi,
Just to correct it the risk of infection after needle stick is 0.3% sorry for the wrong number I provided above.
For the blood transfusion risk it is 1:100 000 and for the perinatal risk is 13-40%

So the blood transfusion has the lowest risk.
