Rome criteria

Is a criteria used in the diagnosis of Irritable bowel syndrome as there is no diagnostic test to be used (After excluding lactose intolerance ,inflammatory bowel disease ,celiac disease ,giardia infection and anatomic defects of the bowel as a cause .What' Rome criteria ??

watery dirrhea associated with cramps 2-3 times daily is definition of irritable, the name looks familiar but cant think of the criteria.

pain relieved by a bowel ovement or by a change in bowel habit
fewer symptoms at night
diarrhea with alternating constipation

I wanna to enlighten u guys n gals with d technical details of ROME'S CRITERIA:
Shud not be acute in onset
The symptoms shud not be progressive in nature
Shud not present for the frst time in middle-age or the elderly
Features like fever,wt.loss n anorexia shud not b der.

IBS can be diagnosed based on at least 12 weeks, which need not be consecutive, of the preceding 12 months there was abdominal discomfort or pain that had two out of three of these features:
Relieved with defecation; and/or
Onset associated with a change in frequency of stool; and/or
Onset associated with a change in form (appearance) of stool.
