The young man had been hospitalized for one week due to the new onset of auditory hallucinations and tangentiality of thoughts. During his hospitalization, he was diagnosed with schizophreniform disorder and was treated with risperidone 2 mg PO BID. A medical work-up for this first episode of psychosis was negative. In discussing course and prognosis with the patient and his mother, which of the following features would be considered a good prognostic indicator?

Family history of schizophrenia, Withdrawn, autistic behavior and flat affect , Onset of psychotic symptoms within a month of the first change in behavior , Poor premorbid educational and occupational performance are poor prognostic factors............. positive symptoms, absence of family history and anatomic abnormalities are good prognostic factors

Schizophrenia is psychological disorder characterized by hallucinations(auditory or visual),disordered thought processing, less physical symptoms with a very poor prognosis if not treated early.....it also has a strong genetic component hence is a bad prognosticator if present......if there is onset of psychotic symptoms within the frst month its indicative of refractoriness to the medication whch is again a poor prognosticator....d n e also are poor prognosticators......however if the patient has any known precipitating factors or acute stressors its a good prognosticator since he can be managed by simple abstinence frm such precipitating factors.
