it is possible to scramble from outside the US but getting into residency it depends how lucky you are.

The scramble works well for those with GC or are citizens. But an IMG can always try being outside the US!

I tried it for three years, without good results, but that was only my luck

I tried both; first two years, by my own; last year through 2 companies: one was a scam, the other Electronicresidency. I have had 3 interviews this year, and two more to go, hope I don't scramble again

Harder but possible. If your scores are very high and your CV is good then you stand a good chance wherever you are even compared to those with a US citizenship scrambleing from inside the USA. So go for it and good luck.

You know some say success does not always come to the most talented but rather to those who strive the hardest and never give up. It is just like a soccer game, if you keep shooting at the post the ball is bound to once get into the post, sooner or later....

Sounds good, but scramble is hard! There is one Internal Medicine program that leaves all their unfilled positions (did this three years in a row) until they find a lot of high 90s scramblers and then fill the positions...but most of the programs just pick anybody who calls first, has good grades and a GC

You may have a point there radhamesramos, I think the last thing a program wants after an unsuccesful Match is to get a foreigner without a GC and then hope he gets a visa and turns up in June.

Scramble is a crazy period and anything can happen. Last year a program picked one person with 7 attempts and 75s in step 1 and 2ck over another with same situation with 94/97 (first attempts).

As we all said anything can happen during scramble ,let's hope this year doesn't get as crazy as the last two years

Let us all pray not to go for the scramble, I think this year the match is very hard.

It is getting little harder each year to the point that US citizen applicants are creating groups anti non-us citizen applicants all over the internet. The US may pass a law within the next few year not to allow non US citizen apply without US citizenship. How does this makes you feel??? That will be sad.

Yes! Those groups are proliferating everywhere, but with grades like some been held by some of our IMGs would make that difficult...Anyways, if this law passes, it would affect a lot of small community programs nobody talks about, but are the ones offering H1, and a lot of J1 visas, that their task force is more than 80% or 90%, not to say 100% IMGs in some and are the ones that keep the hope alive for a lot of IMGs, and that these IMGs are the ones making quality candidates for this programs, since no AMGs would ever apply in one of them, unless is one of the worst student (on paper). Of course, a lot of these IMGs are american Citizen or GC holders, but their number is not enough for securing all residency spots

Its true... I know them both and thats why I tell you that scores are not everything. If you get the chance to interview then you can impress them even with low score.
