Hi,
I applied to only IM and FM. I didn't apply to OBGYN ans surgery programs. So i don't have my OBGYN ans surgery PS in ERAS. Do I need to submit those Personal statements to ERAS, If i want to participate in scramble in OBGYN and surgery. Thank you.

Yep! Imagine yourself scrambling for a surgery position saying how good you are in Internal Med

hi,
i have a query regarding the eligibility to scramble. i passed step 1 & 2 ck and waiting for cs results.my cs was on 17th jan 08, the results are expected on 26th march 08. am i eligible to scramble without the ecfmg certificate? is there anyway to know the cs result earlier?

no, you are not eligible officially...I mean officially because you are not allowed to participate in the Match, so you won't receive the list officially...but if you get it, you can start calling programs and try to scramble, but with pending results it would be kind of hard to you...but hope is the last thing you could lose

thank you very much for your quick reply. can you please suggest how i should proceed for 2009 match to increase the chance of getting a residency? right now i am in UK applying for the jobs here. back home i did MD in obs & Gyn and i have MRCOG part 1. should i mention the PLAB and MRCOG in my CV? i dont mind shifting the branch and i am willing to stay and do residency anywhere in US. I graduated in 2000 & finished my MD in 2004. my scores are step 1-84/204, step 2- 95/231. i am planning to take step 3 in june/july 08. are there any chances of getting a residency next year with or without USCE?

Well, your case seems pretty good, the thing is that every year is getting more competitive. You can get into a residency without the USCE, but that is something that almost everybody is trying to get even candidates with double 99s, so I recommend you to an externship or observership (the latter being easier to get). A good point about you is that you did your specialty, so they won't count all those years since graduation (some programs), so try to get an observership, see if you can publish something before next year, get good LORs and mention the PLAB and MRCOG...you are an excellent candidate, but you should get inside the system to see what programs you should apply. Of course, step 3 is a super plus. Try scrambl e this year also, you never know, but don't expect too much from it
