The best time would be once you get your ECFMG certificate, as I recommend all IMGs to take the test as soon as possible prior to their kick start day of residency.

That is the best piece of advise you could get for step 3, and to complement it, also the best time is when you are ready and have practiced a lot of questions. Better if it is before September, if not, try it before december

Anytime man!! it doesn't matter if it's in June or January, you only need to clear it before you start your residency or before the end of Feb. if you're looking for H1b sponsor.

but in my own experience I found out that is beter to go to the interview with a score than just them knowing that you already took it. Example: for last year went to the interviews weeks after I took the exam with no score. outcome: not matched. This year, I already had a score, outcome: matched. One of the PDs that interviewed me both years, told me that this last season.

Right, but some candidates get lazy by the idea of having the test at a specific time. That's why if someone asks "When should I take it?" I believe the best answer is just "Anytime.. but please, Take It!!"

thank u but when i ask when i have to do it to see how many time it remain for me after i get my ecfmg certtificat becuse i just took cs 29 april and i am very nervouse about the result i remembr i did mistakes so i don know so i cant concentrat very will for step3 that the reason not becuse of lazy

My advice for you would be to wait for your CS results before starting to prepare for Step 3.. Just realx and have some time off.

As I said, the right time to take it is when you have your ECFMG certificate on your hand. It would take 2-3 months to prepare "maybe less if you dedicate more studying hours of your day".

What you need to use is simple and I think we've been going through it over and over; Kaplan notes + DVDs and Q bank, First Aid, NBME Self-Assessment test and a good CCS review like usmlesteps123. That's it!
