Wat score did u get?
In the current competitive environment it is really hard to get a residency after a failure on any one of the USMLE steps. If despite it u wanna pursue yur dream of a US residency then u need to score very high on all the USMLE Steps and without any further failures on any of the steps.
Here is the high yield material for USMLE Step-1:
1.Kaplan Lecture Notes for Step-1
2.Goljan Audio for Step-1
3.USMLE World Online Q Bank
4.Kaplan Online Q Bank
5.Kaplan Q Book
6.WebPath for Histopathology Slides
7.First Aid for Step-1
8.WikitestPrep(Free Online Q Bank for Practice)
9.USMLE World Self Assessment tests (Before Exams)
Prepare at least for 5-6 months fulltime and try to score very high on it.
U can get some of the above books from leading book stores.U will have to get the photocopies of the Kaplan Lecture Notes as original material is too expensive.See if someone on the forum is willing to sell his/her material to u.U will have to subscribe online for the above mentioned Q-Banks .The websites r www.usmleworld.com and www.kaplanmedical.com .
Good Luck!

Wat was yur average score on USMLE World Q Bank and USMLE World Self-Assessment tests?
Did u note down the USMLE World explanations and did u revise them again before yur actual exam?
I suggest that u must also do Kaplan online Q Bank alongwith the USMLE World Q Bank.U need to do as many as authentic questions as possible.
Was time management an issue for u on the actual exam?
Did u again skim thro' First Aid before yur actaual exam?
Focus more on yur weak areas.
In a nutshell, read all the above mentioned study material again and again until u r fully thorough with it.
Good Luck!

U can use them if Kaplan does not appeal u.Yes, these r excellent books. But in my opinion ,Kaplan must still be yur primary source and use these two books only as a reference material to further clear yur doubts.
One more suggestion, donot use a lot of books.Stick only to the time-tested ones.
Good Luck!

slavic - 04-24-10 05:56 my avg score in uworld was 48 to 52 with weaker subjects physiology and stats and pathology.no problem with time management. i did not go thru first aid at all .i just did kaplan and usmleworld and did nbme form 2 . i scored 80 on nbme form2. i donot have any problems with the ct section or xrays.should i go ahead with the preparation is it worth it after failing in step1?should i plan for the 2012 match not this year. what do you suggest?

With such an average score on USMLE World Q Bank u must never have taken the USMLE Step-1 exam. Not skimming thro' FA for Step-1 is another blunder.80 on an NBME form is no good at all.
Yur UWorld Average shud at least have been above 60%.The best wud have been an average of around 70%.
I said earlier that residency matching is very competitive these days.A failure on any of the Steps is a big red flag. But, if u still wanna pursue this whole process then U need to score at least above 90 on the steps and without any more failures. If u can do this then only u shud think of taking the USMLE Steps.
Good Luck!

Good!
Remember, never make any haste concerning USMLE steps.Follow the above advice in full spirit, and take as much time as u want to score at least above 90 on each of the steps.
U r so close to getting a passing score, but that won't be enough in these times of fierce competition.
Do keep us updated abour yur progress.
Good Luck!
