too late for step 3?

hi everyone
i'm going to try to apply for the match for year 2009. It seems like it's getting harder and harder for an img to get into the residency thus step 3 is a must. i'm planning to write step 3 in december 2008, is it too late if i want to apply for the match in 2009?because as far as i know, most program select their candidate for interview as early as in september once the application is open. and what is the percentage of img getting the residency post?

Re: too late for step 3? doctor1 - 03-19-08 20:13 its definitely better to have it with your application but in case you need time till december thats the best for you a betetr score is always fetching, but most of all try to have it by the time u interview or betetr yet have the result ready by end of jan as that might help u with a prematch ..good luck

I took the exam on November 30th and De. 1st in Brooklyn, NY. I had an interview invitation so I scheduled the interview for December 4th. I went to the interview and told the PD that I recently took step 3 (actually he asked me becaause it was in my application that I was going to take it). That was my only iv, and I did not match that year. Next year (this Match year), this same hospital invited me again for an interview, and the same pd tells me that my possibilities are bigger this year because there was a score in my step 3 (fortunately I passed)...so, you see the importance of Step 3 for an IMG
