URGENT HELP NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!!

hello to all the moderators in this forum,
I am in a big problem ,need ur advice!!!!!!!
I came to new york from INDIA last week.
the coustom officer stamped my I 94 for 90 days, as I am on B1 visa
I previously thought that if u have valid reasons We can ask for 6 months stay on B1
I asked but they refused
I have already few observerships planned for 4 - 5 months!!!!!!!
This I have got after lot of problems, I want to do them
Now shall I go ahaed and apply for extension on B1????????
Some say that its difficult and once the application is rejected they might also cancel my 10 yr multiple entry visa!!!!!!!!
Is it so risky to go for this?
going to INDIA and cming back will be a very costly affair
what shall I do for this?

Re: URGENT HELP NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!! doctor1 - 04-01-08 11:21 ok its good to get an observership with b1 visa, from my personal experience i would advice u to apply for an extension , i dint think that would cause any cancellation of ur visa which was given for 10yrs

Usually that is the problem, the process takes more than the 90 days you are there. What I recommend you to do is getting a Canadian visa, go to Canada for a weekend, and go back to America and get a B2, just put in the I-94 that you are there for pleasure, because they don't give you more than 90 days on B1 status (business), but they do give you 6 months for pleasure purposes (B2).
If not comfortable, Ask for an extension. Why don't you go to USCIS. gov, and then get to Infopass and ask for an appointment with an immigration official, and see how they can solve your problem

Re: URGENT HELP NEEDED!!!!!!!!!!! doctor1 - 04-02-08 09:06 ok it wont affetc ur future visa prospects in a negative way, the processing for the extension rtakes atleast 3 months , 10 days after the report of the reply u can saty in the us legally ,till then ur stay is considered legal , ok my bit of advice is to contact some lawyers -immigration whom u can consuklt for free of cost , so they will def tell u what to do at the current situation and all the possible options but for work to be done by them u need to pay for the service
