Here is wat the ECFMG says about it:
"To request an official USMLE transcript, you must contact the appropriate registration entity. You must contact the Federation of State Medical Boards if you are registered for or have taken Step 3 and/or you want to send your transcript to a medical licensing authority. In all other cases, submit your transcript request to ECFMG by sending a completed Request for Official USMLE® Transcript (Form 172) and the appropriate fee to ECFMG. You can check whether your USMLE transcript has been sent using OASIS."

So, if one has made a request for a USMLE Transcript to the ECFMG and paid the appropriate fees then he/she can check thro' the OASIS whether the Transcript has been sent to his/her postal address.Keep in mind that this request is not the one which we make thro' ERAS in order to send the transcript electronically to the programs.

So this is not in anyway related to yur ROL submission.So go ahead with yur ROL submission.

a)Does this mean that i have to pay first for the ECFMG certificate and then wait for the certificate in my Mail Box...
b)What is ECFMG certificate for? I mean where can i use it once i get it?

No,ECFMG Certificate and USMLE Transcript r two different things.
U donot have to pay to get yur ECFMG Certificate.ECFMG themselves mail it to the candidates once they meet all the requirements for Certification.
On the other hand,in order to get a USMLE Transcript u have to pay some fees before the ECFMG mails them to yur regular mail address.Transcript contains the information on each and every USMLE Step which an applicant might have attempted.
ECFMG Certificate is a document which makes yur under-graduate medical degree(MBBS) equivalent to an American MD.

It is solely yur choice.If u wanna keep it for yur personal records then u can order it from the ECFMG.In my opinion,it wud be better to order it from the FSMB after passing the USMLE Step-3.That way u wud be ordering it only once.

hi i have Q regarding (dean letter). last year i applylid using the previouse dean letter whish ERAS they allready have it but i heard few applicants they told me they get letter from ECFMG when they applied second time. is that make different.
