Research helps, and more so when accompanied by publications.
US Research experience is certainly of immense value.
Attending CMEs is off course better than nothing.
Good Luck!

In my opinion, attending CMEs will not have any significant effect on one's credentials.Attending CME's whether live or online may show that one has remained updated of the recent trends in medicine, but it is ,after all, a passive participation.Residency Program Directors want residency applicants to be actively involved in the management of patients or any clinical or basic science research.
About attending CMEs live or online I donot think it matters so much because one either way gets the alloted credits for that particular CME.
Good Luck!

One does not need to earn any CME credits in order to apply for any clerckships or electives. Some hospitals may require u to pass TOEFL prior to applying for a clerckship.
One cannot outrightly say that CMEs r a total waste, but with regards to applying to residencies and clerckships they r not of any significant help.
U shud presently concentrate on other important things,CMEs can be done anytime.
Good Luck!
