Here i would like to list the documents that one has to take for visa interview.Here there are two sets.
Primary documents:
1)HDFC barcode/visa fee receipt
2)ECFMG visa letter
3)ECFMG center confirmation letter
4)scheduling permit step 2 cs
other documents:
1)hotel booking
2)my financial documents- my bank statements
fixed deposits
LIC policy certificates
3)sponsors(in my case father)-bank statements and property papers
4)medical degree,other certificates
here,i have listed some of the documents that i think is necessary to take for visa interview.i would like if some one adds any documents that i have missed or point out if anything unnecessary is listed here

Do take current "job letter' with you as well.

The visa officer will definitely ask u what u r doing currently ?
Thus, it is essential for you to be ready with a proof.
You can show some other job letter from a different hospital if u do not want to mention about your diploma in Peds.

usmlefever3 - 05-19-09 01:53 i was admitted last year in june and will be completing it in june 2010.My intentions are not to complete this diploma but what i want to know that will i get any advantage in getting visa after revealing this information to visa officer?

No advantage as such.
Even if u make a mention about your diploma,I think it will cause no problems because u will be completing it by the time u start your residency in the USA.So, the Visa officer will have no doubt about your seriousness to pursue your residency in the USA.

Does visa consulate verifies the documents such as working in a hospital or doing any pg course with the concerned hospital office ?

No,I have never heard about it being done.
Set aside all worries and go for the interview.
