You will need the visa to take the CS test, in order to get your ECFMG certificate, also to take Step 3. Having a relative will help but the approval or denial of your case depends on how good can you convince the consular about your reason to visit the US.

Always think about this when applying to a visa:
1-you must show that you have strong bonds that will make you coming back to your country and not staying in th U.S. working.

2- That you are not going to work. Convince them

3- If they ask you about the process of getting certified in america, tell the consul the truth and how is the process. Tell them that once a hospital gets you matched, you'll get another type of visa, but you won't be working with your B1/B2 visa.

4- And explain them how important is this exam for your career.

hey , thats the question that pops up in the minds of several before going for the visa process, but its mostly how well can the person behind the desk feels convinced that u are not a potential immigrant, and most of all when u asked about having a relative thats just to make sure that u have enough financial support here during ur stay .

yeah! but if the relative is very close (example mother or father or sibling) it cuts both ways, since they might think that is the connection to stay.
