A 56 year old man brought to the ER with c/o of dyspnea, lighteadedness, disorientation and confusion. cardiac monitor which shows Ventricular Tachycardia at a rate of 183. vitals are stable . what is the next step?

if unstable pt with low systolic BP, dizziness, unconcousness.. go for asynchronous Defibrillation..otherwise IV Lidocaine...

Patients suffering from pulseless VT or unstable VT are haemodynamically compromised and require immediate cardioversionDrugs such as amiodarone or procainamide may be used in addition to defibrillation to terminate VT while the underlying cause of the VT can be determined Lidocaine is now being replaced by amiodarone as the first line anti-arrhythmic treatment of VT.

lidocainr is the drug of choice as the patient is stable hemodynamically... though defibrillation would be appropriate if the patient had the above mentioned symptoms with an unstable vital....

Beta-blockers and a number of class III anti-arrhythmics are commonly used. Lidocaine is now being replaced by amiodarone as the first line anti-arrhythmic treatment of VT.
