For step 3 preparation, whenever you start any topic ask your self 3 questions---
1-is the patient stable or unstable?
2-what is the best diagnostic test?
3-what is the most accurate diagnostic test?(coz both have usually different answers as best is the one that will help you move foward with the case and most accurate will make your diagnosis right.yes little tricky!!!for example:CULTURE is the the most accurate for any infectious disease but not the best to wait for and base your treatment on.
4-what is the treatment?
THINGS WILL EXTREMELY SIMPLIFY IF YOU GO THIS WAY!!!!!

Re: when you start any topic... sackatdoc - 09-26-08 08:39 I am in a process of formulating a plan.Since I messed up with my step1 &2, both the times i didnt know what it takes to prepare for USMLE, now that i have known, I WILL CUSTOMISE a plan AND USE IT,try covering up my shortcomings and strengthening my positives, hope I SUCCEED.

Re: when you start any topic... sackatdoc - 09-26-08 10:40 78 and 80 are my very low& horrible scores.I was overconfident both the times didnt prepare well, didnt take any nbme or any test materials, I WAS STUPID!!Though still i am, but have recovered a little.

No Sackatdoc ,please don't say that .USMLE preparations are not the scale of smartness .I think that you know what was wrong ,I mean the test materials .For me I think that my great push was those test materials although I reviewed the materials twice ,I got low NMBE test simulation score .After the Q-bank ,I got a very high score.In other words ,one month of Q-bank can not make anyone smarter .

Re: when you start any topic... sackatdoc - 09-26-08 16:09 thanks mohhaider, I know that all is usually told to people who messed up to boost their morale, it is a way of telling its the circumstances responsible and not you, BUT i'm not that weak guy who would pardon myself of my ignorance and simply blame it on the situation, coz my ignorance is my fault and just putting the blame around wouldnt save me the trouble that i got myself in, but still thanks for being supportive, it felt good!!!
