hello doctok,
i just want to have your view regarding my creditials;i am an img from india
step1 -237/99 ck241/99 and cs passed. cleared all exams on first attempt. 2009 graduate. but no USCE,research.
which residency should i apply for? personally im interested in neuro..

which residency should i apply for? personally im interested in neuro..
U can apply to IM,FM,Pediatrics,Neuro,Gen Surgery,Obs and Gynae,etc.
But do remember to put yur experience,in the same specialty,in yur CV and have LORs which r either applicable to all specialties or to the particular specialty u wanna apply to.

Re: Which Specialties Can I Apply To? docjay - 08-23-10 03:16 i heard combo programs are very competitive for imgs?? i placed my credentials over many online sites for customized list.and i found that i can apply to 81 OBS&GYN 51 IM programs. does that mean i have more chances of getting residency is in OBS &GYN then IM??

If the words 'Internal Medicine Residency' r mentioned in the body of the LORs then unfortunately u can not use them with yur aplications to Neuro programs.However,if such a specific thing is not mentioned in the LORs then u can use them,but it is better to have some Neurology LORs as well,say one to two such LORs.Neuro LORs will reveal yur level of interest in Neurology to the PDs.

No, that is never the case.University Programs r actually more competitive for IMGs.Which online sites for customised lists did u try.It shud not be only 51 IM prog to which u will be eligible to apply.What filtration criteria did u use?There r many more IM programs which an applicant with credentials like that of yurs will be eligible to apply to.
