If u wanna get a J1 visa you have to take the Medical Council of Canada Evaluating exam.
With the result of the exam u have to apply for the statement of need from the Canadian Ministry of Health then DS-2019 from from ECFMG and finally the J1 visa itself.The only good part is if you are a Canadian citizen you don't have to go to the American embassy in Canada for an interview which could also take lots of time. They can issue you the visa at the port of entry.
