That is exactly the point. Zinc has connections to taste and smell while copper is the element required for wound healing but has nothing to do with taste and smell.

zinc deficiency can be associated with malabsorption, diarrhea, acrodermatitis enteropathica, chronic liver disease, chronic renal disease, sickle-cell disease, diabetes, malignancy, and other chronic illnesses
